Bolingbrook and Young could be headed on a collision course all season, with the ultimate destination being a rematch of the Class 4A state championship game at Normal's Redbird Arena.
After news broke Friday that two Public League boys basketball coaches would have to sit out their team's first six games because of recruiting violations, the league redeemed itself in force on Saturday.
John Wander was still in shock Saturday night. The Downers Grove North coach was fielding phone calls from friends, family, parents and reporters all wanting to discuss the Trojans' stunning 8-7 win over DuPage Valley Conference power Wheaton Warrenville South on Friday in the first round of the Class 7A football playoffs. That Downers Grove North, a team that entered the playoffs with a 5-4 record, had beaten one of the best 7A teams in Illinois and a defending state runner-up on its home field, still hadn't sunk in for Wander 24 hours later.
By the end of the game, Wheaton Warrenville South coach Ron Muhitch had run out of plays.
